News to the Minute

Bruno de Carvalho was chatting with some 'Big Brother Verão' contestants in the garden when he ended up sharing information about one of the most memorable moments that took place outside the 'most watched house in the country.' The former president of Sporting Clube de Portugal joined the reality show late, so he had access to some news that his fellow contestants didn't.

"What are you going to say?! Diogo Jota died with his brother. They died in a car accident... Try to calm down with the comments" , Bruno de Carvalho said to Viriato Quintela, leaving his colleague in shock.

"When you came in, had it already happened?" Eduardo Ferreira asked. "It already happened," Bruno de Carvalho said.

"There were demonstrations and demonstrations of grief... Everyone singing his song," added the former president of Sporting.

Later, he explained: "I didn't know if they knew or not, I apologize. He was going to say bad things [about Diogo Jota], he can't say bad things."

"I wasn't going to say anything bad. Nothing changes. I wasn't a huge fan of his," Viriato Quintela commented later.

"It was an accident, Big. Stop with that stuff. Put on some music," Bruno de Carvalho added.

Eduardo Ferreira, in turn, defended the former Sporting president: "He only spoke out because he was going to 'speak ill,' and Bruno, so he wouldn't 'speak ill,' said that." Watch this moment here . Will Bruno de Carvalho be punished for breaking one of the program's rules?

It's worth remembering that Bruno de Carvalho is one of the contestants on 'Big Brother Verão' who are at risk of leaving this Sunday, August 10th. Also nominated are Eduardo Ferreira, Afonso Leitão and Kina.

The accident occurred on July 3rd in the Zamora area of Spain, while he was on his way to Liverpool. He was traveling by car because the player had been advised to travel that way (and only then by ferry) instead of by plane, for health reasons.

Diogo Jota had undergone lung surgery after Portugal's victory in the Nations League, and was advised not to travel by plane to avoid cabin pressure. Therefore, his plan was to drive to Santander, Spain, and then depart by boat for Portsmouth.
