PSD Madeira wants to win local elections in all municipalities

PSD/Madeira leader Miguel Albuquerque said Saturday night that the party's goal is to win the local elections in the autonomous region's 11 municipalities and emphasized its fighting capacity.
"The PSD/Madeira is a fighting party, a tenacious party, and has always been that way for almost fifty years, and so the next challenge is to win the local elections," he stated.
Miguel Albuquerque, also president of the PSD/CDS-PP coalition executive, was speaking at the traditional summer rally of the regional party structure, on the island of Porto Santo, which marks the party's political re-entry.
"Here in Porto Santo, the choice is very clear: either we elect a man and a team who have done exceptional work serving this island, or we will enter into dysfunction and regression, halting everything that is underway here," he warned, referring to the current Mayor and Social Democratic candidate for the October 12 local elections, Nuno Batista.
The PSD regional leader emphasized that the objective is to win in the region's eleven municipalities, stressing that, to achieve this, "it is essential to count on everyone, without exception."
Regarding Porto Santo, he considered that the victory is of "particular importance" to continue the work already underway and strengthen collaboration between the municipality and the Regional Government, particularly in terms of the construction of the local health unit, the new football pitch, the municipal market and more housing supply.
“We will continue, together, to work for the good of Porto Santo,” he said, reinforcing that “PSD/Madeira is the only party that always puts Madeira and Porto Santo first.”
In his speech, Miguel Albuquerque once again argued that the region needs more autonomy and that, to achieve this, a constitutional review is urgently needed.
"Against all those who oppose and oppose the country's conservatism, we will present our constitutional review project in September and we will also ensure that the most unjust and idiotic law, the Regional Finance Law, is reviewed. This law does nothing to help or benefit the autonomous regions," he declared.
Albuquerque said that Madeira needs more legislative powers to "ensure future development and that of new generations" and warned that "the uncompromising defense of the region in the Republic will continue."
The Madeiran social-democratic leader stated, on the other hand, that the PSD/Madeira will only express its support for the candidate for President of the Republic who assumes “concretely and unequivocally” what he wants for the region's autonomy.
