Today on Netflix: the breathtaking 8-episode series based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe

Since establishing itself as a pioneering streaming platform , Netflix has excelled at adapting classic stories into miniseries , documentaries, series, and films. One such production, released in 2023, has recently gained renewed attention: an adaptation inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe .
The eight-part miniseries is "The Fall of the House of Usher" , created by Mike Flanagan — the same person responsible for hits like "The Haunting of Hill House" and "Midnight Mass".
Available on Netflix since October 12, 2023, the production is not limited to Poe's famous short story of the same name, but also references other texts by the author, such as "The Tell-Tale Heart", "The Black Cat", "The Masque of the Red Death" and "The Raven".
A common character
Despite the different storylines, Flanagan's productions have something that connects them: the presence of the character Verna , played by Carla Gugino . The actress herself described her character as a kind of representation of fate and karma, according to the LM Nequen portal: "You could say she's the manifestation of karma. It's crazy—in the best possible way."
What is the story of the series?
"Two ambitious brothers, obsessed with fame and fortune, build a family dynasty that begins to crumble when their heirs begin to die, one by one, in mysterious ways," describes the official synopsis of the series.
