This classic Brazilian recipe , made with hot broth and cassava flour, has just been ranked among the 10 best foods in the world, according to the international platform Taste Atlas . The delicacy ranked 8th, ahead of dishes from countries like Italy and the United States.

Traditional in several regions of Brazil, pirão is often served with fish, chicken, or oxtail , and is prized for its creamy texture and distinctive flavor. To celebrate this global recognition, Metrópoles has selected four places in the Federal District where you can experience this delicacy as it deserves to be served.

Country Root Restaurant

Raiz Caipira , located at 211 Sul, focuses on homemade recipes that captivate with their flavor. The pirão (pork stew) is served with chicken or oxtail and is part of the set menu, priced at R$19.90. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to midnight; and Sunday, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

With that grandma-cooked feel, this restaurant, located in the Águas Claras Shopping Food Court, offers, on select days, oxtail with watercress accompanied by a pirão (a type of porridge) that customers rave about. Included in the buffet, the oxtail costs R$33.90 (all you can eat). Open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

At the Palhoça restaurant , located in the EPIA, customers can choose the type of pirão (chicken, fish, or goat) and the portion size (R$13.90 for a half portion or R$25 for a full portion). The preparation emphasizes rich broth and quality flour, ensuring the ideal creaminess. Open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

With over 45 years of tradition, the restaurant , located in the North Hotel and Tourism Sector, serves pirão (a type of stew) as part of its main courses. The highlight is the traditional Bahian pirão, served as a side dish with moquecas or individually for R$16.90 (400g). The recipe follows the Bahian tradition, with an intense flavor and impeccable texture. Opening hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday through Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
