Portugal finishes 5th in the European Beach Soccer League

The Portuguese beach soccer team, which was defending its title in the European League, beat its Swiss counterpart 9-3 this Sunday and finished fifth in the 2025 Superfinal, which took place in Viareggio, Italy.

The goals scored by Bê Martins (01 and 34 minutes), João Cabral (12), Bernardo Lopes (23 and 35), Diogo Dias (25), Léo Martins (26 and 27) and Duarte Algarvio (31) demonstrate the superiority of Portugal, which remains the record holder for titles, with nine trophies won.

Switzerland, who scored through Steinemann (15), Knöpfli (26) and Hodel (27), never proved capable of countering the dominance of the 'quinas' team in the game for fifth and sixth place, which pitted the third-placed teams from the two groups in the first phase of the competition against each other.

The team coached by Mário Narciso had failed to qualify for the semi-finals, finishing third in Group A, behind Italy and Belarus (whom they lost 6-3 and 4-3, respectively) and just ahead of France, who won 4-2 in the final round.
