Animals. What toys are dangerous for your cat?

Animals. What toys are dangerous for your cat?

A playful, curious, and energetic animal, cats are known for their playfulness, generally preferring the objects around them to high-end toys. While some everyday items, such as bubble wrap, bottle caps, cardboard boxes, and toilet paper rolls, are completely harmless, others, whether or not they were designed for animals, can be dangerous to their health.

Highly stimulating, rubber bands, barrettes, shoelaces, ribbon, wool, string, aluminum balls, and even plastic bags are particularly popular with young cats. However, it's best to avoid letting them play unsupervised with these objects, which can cause serious indigestion or intestinal obstructions, and also pose risks of suffocation or strangulation. So remember to place them out of their reach once playtime is over. Also keep in mind that a toy will inevitably be chewed.

So don't hesitate to pay attention to the composition of toys and choose quality, such as natural materials and fibers, or at least those suitable for animals, to prevent the risk of poisoning. Over time, some toys, such as foam mice, plastic birds or balls, feather toys, and stuffed animals, can break or disintegrate.

To prevent cats from ingesting residue, regularly check the condition of their toys and discard any broken or damaged items. Finally, be careful with bright lasers, which can damage the retina. For safety, always choose a laser with green light over red and one with a power of less than 5 milliwatts.
