Jane Fonda bids emotional farewell to Robert Redford: 'I can't stop crying'

Oscar-winning actor and director Robert Redford passed away yesterday at the age of 89. His passing has caused great sorrow in the film world.
JANE FONDA'S EMOTIONAL FAREWELLJane Fonda, Redford's close friend and co-star, shared an emotional message in his wake. Fonda said, "I was deeply moved this morning to learn of Bob's passing. I can't stop crying. He meant so much to me and was a beautiful person in every way. He represented an America we must continue to fight for."
Redford previously expressed his joy at working with Fonda, saying, "It was easy. We've made a lot of movies over the years. We didn't have to argue much; everything just worked out between us."
Fonda and Redford first appeared together in the 1960 film Tall Story. They reunited in the 1966 film Barefoot in the Park and most recently starred in the 2017 production Our Souls at Night.

DiCaprio said, "Actor, activist, passionate environmentalist, and champion of the arts. His unwavering commitment to protecting our planet and inspiring change was matched by his immense talent. His impact will endure for generations to come."
Both DiCaprio and Redford played the character of "Jay Gatsby" in their adaptations of the literary classic The Great Gatsby. Redford took on the role in 1974 and DiCaprio in 2013.
