A misdiagnosis ruined the life of the famous dancer Burçin Orhon

A misdiagnosis ruined the life of the famous dancer Burçin Orhon

Orhon, one of the unforgettable names of the 1990s, stated that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's by a doctor about 11 years ago, but it was later understood that this diagnosis was not correct.

The artist summarized his experiences with these words:

"A big mistake was made at that time. I didn't actually have Alzheimer's, but I had a condition with similar symptoms. For a year, I thought I was sick and made some preparations. I was very happy when the truth came out, but this process left a deep mark on me."

"They Accused Me of Advertising, That's What Upset Me the Most"

Orhon also criticized the negative comments he received from some circles following his recent health crisis. The artist, who faced accusations that he was "making a publicity stunt" after revealing his Alzheimer's, said these comments hurt him more than the diagnosis itself.

“A disease like Alzheimer’s cannot be used as an advertising tool,” said Orhon, continuing:

"No one can benefit from this disease. Especially someone like me... Who would send their children to ballet lessons for someone with Alzheimer's? Who would offer them TV or commercials? These comments were so cruel that they hurt me more than the misdiagnosis itself. No one should stoop so low as to use Alzheimer's as a promotional tool."
