Nuno Portas, father of Paulo and Miguel Portas, has died. He was 90 years old.

Architect Nuno Portas, father of politicians Paulo and Miguel Portas, died this Sunday, July 27, at the age of 90.
The news was made public by Helena Sacadura Cabral, his first wife and whom he divorced in 1968, on Instagram:
"It was with sadness that I learned of the death of Nuno Portas, the father of my two children. Although we went our separate ways many years ago, we shared an important part of our lives and, above all, the gift of being parents to incredible people," the writer began.
Helena also reveals that her biggest concern at the moment is the well-being of her son and grandchildren who are now facing this loss.
"At this moment, my heart is especially turned to my remaining son and to our grandchildren, who are now facing the pain of a profound loss. I hope he finds peace, and that the memory of what was good lives on in the hearts of those who loved him," he concluded.
Nuno Portas also had another daughter, Catarina Portas, from his second marriage with Margarida Maria Gomes de Sousa Lobo.
Who was the architect Nuno Portas?
Nuno Portas was born in Vila Viçosa on September 23, 1934. He studied architecture at the Escola Superior de Belas-Artes in Lisbon, but it was in Porto that he obtained his degree in 1960.
During his career, he worked with architect Nuno Teotónio Pereira and contributed to the magazine Arquitectura, becoming its editor. In 1962, he joined the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering, where he remained as coordinator of the Architecture, Housing, and Urban Planning Research Center until 1974.
Nuno Portas was a professor at the Escola Superior de Belas Artes in Lisbon between 1965 and 1971 and taught as a guest professor at the Escola Técnica Superior de Arquitetura in Barcelona, at the Paris Urbanism Institute, at the University of Paris VIII, the Polytechnic of Milan, the University of Ferrara and also at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Together with Nuno Teotónio Pereira, he received the Valmor Prize in 1974 for the work on the Church of the Heart of Jesus, in Lisbon.
During his career, he participated in numerous significant projects, both in Portugal and abroad. He coordinated the team of architects responsible for the expansion of the University of Aveiro, was one of the architects responsible for the Expo 98 plan, and also served as a consultant for the rehabilitation of Guimarães' historic center.
Abroad, he coordinated Madrid's Intermunicipal Planning and was a consultant for Barcelona's Metropolitan Strategic Plan.
In 2004, Nuno Portas received the Grand Cross of the Order of Prince Henry.
