Lightness and vitality in the air: see the ideal perfumes for spring

Lightness and vitality in the air: see the ideal perfumes for spring

With the arrival of spring , the senses seem to open along with the flowers . The season invites us to leave behind the seclusion of winter and embrace lightness, renewal, and the joy of life. In this scenario, perfumes can be more than a detail —they become powerful sensory tools to accompany this transition.

"After the cold months, we seek scents that reflect the expansion of nature and our own bodies. Spring awakens vitality, sensuality, and creativity—and natural perfumery helps express all of this," says perfumer Lara Zaiden .

According to Lara, the season calls for fragrances that evoke freshness, movement, and joy. That's why floral, fruity, and citrus notes take center stage. "It's no coincidence that the floral family reigns supreme in spring. These scents carry the spirit of this season: lightness, beauty, affection, and fertility. They activate emotions that were dormant in winter," she explains.

Spring is in the air—and with it, a sensory opportunity to blossom inside and out.

Among the flowers Lara recommends, jasmine holds a special place. "It has an aphrodisiac and captivating character. It's a flower that awakens libido , strengthens self-confidence, and stimulates contact with pleasure," she says. Another favorite of the perfumer is the red rose. "It promotes self-love, eroticism, and personal power—perfect for those who want to reconnect with their inner strength."

The perfumer also highlights the exuberance of ylang-ylang, known for its vibrant golden aroma. "It conveys enthusiasm, joy, and vigor, as well as balancing emotions ," she says. To add even more freshness, Lara recommends fruity and citrus notes, such as bergamot and orange blossom. "These ingredients add lightness and solar clarity. They're great for inspiring new beginnings."

From a therapeutic perspective, the right fragrances can positively influence mood, focus, and even self-esteem . "Essential oils like bergamot and grapefruit help lift the mood and clear the mind. Neroli, for example, is excellent for activating sensuality and connecting with the joy of life," Lara highlights.

"In spring, it's best to opt for lighter fragrances, with more movement and less density. Soft perfumes work best in this climate," he advises.

What is the best way to apply perfume in spring?

When applying, less is more—especially on more humid days. "The skin retains the scent better, so a few sprays are enough. Choose areas with better blood circulation and that are protected from the sun, such as behind the ears, in the crooks of the elbows, or behind the knees," advises the expert.

For those who like to vary their fragrances between day and night, the tip is to adjust the intensity. "During the day, use scented waters, body sprays, or perfumes with lower concentrations. At night, you can be more daring with creamier, more enveloping, or even woody fragrances, as long as they maintain a connection with the freshness of the season," concludes Lara.
