Iga Świątek is the Queen of the Lawn! Wimbledon Conquered, History Made

Iga Świątek is the Queen of the Lawn! Wimbledon Conquered, History Made

It was a real disaster! Iga Świątek turned baker on Centre Court at the All England Club and baked her opponent two huge bagels! The Polish player won this year's Wimbledon final against Amanda Anisimova in lightning speed, without dropping a single game. This is the Raszyn native's sixth Grand Slam title, and her first on grass.

The date of July 12, 2025, has become a staple in Polish tennis history. First, Alan Ważny repeated his Roland Garros success. The teenager, paired with Finland's Oskari Paldanius, triumphed at Wimbledon, winning the junior doubles title. The Pole and his partner claimed victory after an incredibly close battle, defending match points in the final.

There was no such drama in the final against Iga Świątek . The 24-year-old stormed through the entire competition, defeating Clara Tauson, Belinda Bencić, Danielle Collins, and Ludmila Samsonova along the way. Our compatriot entered the all-important clash in London as the bookmakers' favorite, a position she fulfilled with flying colors.

Anisimova began her final against Świątek clearly tense and paralyzed by the stakes of the match, while the Raszyn player emerged highly motivated and determined. Iga astonished with her bold returns and instantly broke her opponent. The Pole was in a class of her own, leading 4-0 after just 18 minutes. The American continued to make numerous simple errors, which Iga capitalized on, quickly closing out the first set.

In the second and, as it turned out, final set of the match, Świątek's performance continued. Wim Fisett's player refused to rest on her laurels and raced like the Heathrow Express to her coveted victory. The Polish tennis star's performance on center court was witnessed by tennis stars such as Martina Navratilova, Martina Hingis, Billie Jean King, and even Duchess Kate.

Świątek maintained her focus until the very end, even pulling out a few tricks. Her dominance was best demonstrated not only by the final score but also by the duration of the final, which ended in less than an hour.
