Prince William: First meeting with new England coach Thomas Tuchel

Prince William (42) received an important visitor at Windsor Castle on Tuesday: The new coach of the English national football team, Thomas Tuchel (51), paid the royal a visit.

On his official Instagram account, William shared a photo with the German , showing the two shaking hands. "It was great to meet with the new England men's team manager Thomas Tuchel today and hear his plans for the team," he said.

Tuchel has been in office since January

As the British "Daily Mail" writes , the meeting is said to have lasted over an hour according to royal insiders. After stints at Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea FC and Bayern Munich, Tuchel has been head coach of the English national team since January 2025. He follows in the footsteps of Gareth Southgate (54).

Prince William was president of the English Football Association from 2005 to 2024 and now has a smaller role as patron. The British heir to the throne is known to be a big football fan and a long-time supporter of the club Aston Villa.
