Tate McRae’s See-Through VMAs 2025 Dress Joins the Naked Fashion Trend

Tate McRae’s See-Through VMAs 2025 Dress Joins the Naked Fashion Trend

Tate McRae has officially entered her fashion icon era at the VMAs 2025, and the internet can’t stop talking about it. The pop star hit the red carpet in a jaw-dropping sheer white dress that left little to the imagination — fully embracing the ongoing viral "naked dress" trend with a fresh, elevated twist. The look featured delicate, gossamer fabric draped over minimal white undergarments, styled with simple white heels, and no necklace.

While, of course, the naked dress look is one of the most talked about fashion moments, McRae also opted for no necklace with her gown, a constantly debated fashion choice. While we can agree that a necklace wasn’t necessary with this look, the focus being on the very sheer dress, others often question the lack of jewelry we’re getting on the carpet.

The daring ensemble is proving that Tate McRae is slowly finding a level of opulence and personal style that matches her rising starlet. In previous years, she went a bit more casual with her VMAs outfits, opting for mini dresses and leather skirts. Now, she’s leaning into gowns while still staying true to her hot girl aesthetic. Which is only right given that she's making her VMAs performance debut. Known for her emotional lyrics, intense choreography, and vulnerable pop anthems, Tate’s fashion choices are beginning to reflect the same boldness that’s made her a Gen Z favorite.

This VMAs moment proves she’s not just here to make hits, she’s here to make statements. And after two back-to-back sold out nights performing at Madison Square Garden it’s only right she entered the VMAs like a seasoned artist. As for beauty, she kept the look very simple, which checks out since the 22-year-old seems to be more of a skin-care first girlie, working closely with Neutrogena.
