New BBC crime drama described as 'edge-of-your-seat thriller' hits iPlayer next week

The BBC is set to drop a gripping new psychological thriller next week, filmed in the scenic landscapes of south Wales and centred around the hunt for a murderer in a quaint town.
The One That Got Away features Welsh actors Elen Rhys, known for her role in The Mallorca Files, as DI Ffion Lloyd, and Richard Harrington from Hinterland as DS Rick Sheldon. Former lovers, Ffion and Rick join forces to solve the murder of a nurse in a Welsh coastal town.
Their investigation is complicated by their tangled history and the impact of the murder on the local community. The crime eerily mirrors a case from over ten years ago, leading the detectives to question an old conviction and speculate about a potential copycat killer.
Catherine Tregenna, known for her work on Law & Order UK, Doctor Who and its spin-off series Torchwood, wrote the show.
Elen Rhys, originally from Aberystwyth, expressed her delight at returning to Wales for filming: "Coming home to Wales to film was a joy-immersing myself in everything Welsh. The talented, close-knit crew worked together so well, making it a truly lovely and extraordinary experience. I felt so lucky.
"Catherine Tregenna's writing blew me away. It's not your typical crime drama; it goes much deeper. I love that there are no heroes, the characters are complex, damaged, and human; everyone is as flawed as the next. It's so 'true' to life. To me, it's a drama about what it means to be human."
Nick Andrews, Head of Commissioning for BBC Cymru Wales, added: "The One That Got Away is a knotty, twisty-turny, edge-of-your-seat thriller interwoven with an electrifying love story, featuring a fantastic Welsh cast. BBC Cymru Wales is so pleased to be able to offer this excellent Cymru Noir to our audiences. You'll be gripped and quivering all at once nail-biting stuff."
Set against the beautiful backdrop of south Wales, The One That Got Away is based on a Welsh-language drama titled Cleddau which was made for S4C. It'll be made up of six one-hour long episodes.
Alongside the main cast will be actors including Rhian Blythe who appeared in Welsh drama Keeping Faith, Sule Rimi from Day of the Jackal, and Coronation Street's Ian Puleston-Davies.
BBC One Wales will premiere The One That Got Away on February 25 at 9:10pm, and the full series will hit iPlayer on the same date for viewers outside of Wales.
