Must-see shows this week: Riot Women, Romesh Ranganathan's Parents' Evening and Hunted

This week's TV schedule is packed with drama and even rebellion with BBC One airing Sally Wainwright's newest hut, Riot Women.

The six-part drama follows four women launching their own punk rock band, only for their lives to be turned upside down once they meet their frontwoman.

Sky also has plenty of drama to keep viewers entertained with The Iris Affair for fans of espionage and The Chair Company for viewers in need of a laugh.

Former Strictly star Pete Wicks fronts a new season of his U&W show, where he champions vulnerable dogs to help them find a forever home. But he also stars in the second series of Romesh Ranganathan's Parents' Evening on ITV.

Hamza Yassin also delivers a new project of his own, hitting the road to discover the British isles while Rylan Clark and Professor Alice Roberts dig for answers on England's witch hunts.

Saturday, BBC1

Four menopausal women start a punk band to enter a local talent contest, but things change when they recruit Kitty, a fiery singer with a chilling past.

Written by Sally Wainwright, this six-part drama is her most autobiographical yet, tackling ageing and menopause with grit and humour. Joanna Scanlan, Tamsin Greig, Amelia Bullmore, Lorraine Ashbourne and Rosalie Craig lead as the bandmates of Riot Women, proving that hot flushes aren’t the end of the story - they’re the start of something bigger.

Pete Wicks returns to the Dogs Trust in Basildon for a brand new season of his U&W series. Spending months with rehoming centres across the UK, the Strictly star helps traumatised strays rebuild trust, cares for vulnerable litters and supports sick and injured dogs on their journey to their forever homes.

Expect a multitude of ups and downs as he discovers a suitcase of abandoned dogs on day one and falls head over heels for Theo, an Italian Mastiff battling a serious heart condition, proving once again that Pete goes above and beyond for every pup.

This hard-hitting documentary series returns for its third season, spotlighting specialist UK police units across four gripping episodes. From romance fraud and drug rings to trafficking and murder, these elite teams tackle the toughest cases.

Joining Tim in the cast are Lake Bell, Sophia Lillis, Lake Price, Joseph Tudisco and Lou Diamond Phillips as Ron navigates a workplace scandal that’s anything but ordinary.

Season three or Loot sees Molly and Arthur navigating life after their romantic cliffhanger and private jet escape to England. Romesh Ranganathan is back with the second season of Parents’ Evening, testing celebrity parents’ knowledge alongside their kids. Across six episodes and multiple categories, families compete to win money for charity.

In the opener, Krishnan Guru-Murthy is paired up with his daughter Jasmine, Gabby Logan teams up with her daughter Lois and Pete Wicks brings his mum Tracey.

More stars due to appear include Jeff Brazier and his son Bobby, Alex Brooker, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Fleur East, Jo Brand and Adrian Dunbar - with Romesh’s mother Shanthi never missing a chance to rattle him.

Created by Neil Cross, The Iris Affair is a high-stakes eight-part thriller series starring Niamh Algar as Iris Nixon, a codebreaker with a bounty on her head.

Hired by charismatic entrepreneur Cameron Beck (Tom Hollander) she’s tasked with decoding a scientist’s diary to unlock a powerful piece of technology.

Shot across Rome and Sardinia, the drama also stars Mereana Tomlinson, Maya Sansa, Sacha Dhawan, Kristofer Hivju, Angela Bruce and Harry Lloyd. Expect espionage, betrayal and a race against time.
