Jason Manford’s Emergency Surgery and Recovery

Jason Manford’s health crisis unfolded suddenly. He was filming until 2 PM on July 31, 2025, when severe pain struck. By 5 PM, he collapsed in a hospital waiting room. Doctors diagnosed appendicitis, requiring immediate surgery.

Post-surgery, he shared a photo from his hospital bed with a cup of Vimto, writing:

“Appendix surgery all went well, now in recovery with my Vimto, they serve it in all Manchester hospitals. Bit of a scary & extremely painful 24 hours but thankful to our NHS & my incredible nurse mum who’s a godsend in a health crisis!”.

He humorously warned fans:

“My advice would be to not get appendicitis whilst driving at 70mph on the motorway!”.

The comedian postponed four shows, including stops in Oxford, Lincoln, and Skegness. His Kendal Calling festival appearance was canceled, with John Bishop stepping in.

Bishop joked:

“It’s an operation you should have had done when you’re seven years of age”.

Manford expressed regret, saying:

“I’m gutted that I’ve had to move the dates this weekend, and I’m sorry for the late notice to so many people in St Albans, Oxford, Lincoln, Skegness & at Kendal Calling”.

Disrupted Travel Plans and Family Holiday

The surgery also forced Manford to miss a family holiday in Portugal. He admitted:

“I thought I could get by on antibiotics and surgery at a later date so I could still do the shows, but was advised not to. Also means I can’t fly out to Portugal on Monday to join my family on holiday!”.

Messages poured in from fans and peers. John Bishop, who replaced him at Kendal Calling, teased:

“That smock suits you”.

Manford responded playfully:

“As a thank you, I’m gonna close on ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ next time I’m there! Or maybe at Anfield for City vs Liverpool haha”.
