Is That Josh Peck in The Last of Us Episode 4?

Looking for a more surprising The Last of Us cameo than Nick Offerman or Catherine O’Hara? Try Josh Peck. The former Drake & Josh star appears during a flashback that kick off episode 4 as a FEDRA soldier in Isaac’s (Jeffrey Wright) unit. That’s right—Jeffrey Wright is on The Last of Us now! It’s a whole new world without Pedro Pascal.

Though Peck’s appearance is much shorter lived than Wright’s, the Oppenheimer actor has the whole first two minutes of the show to himself. From the back of a truck, he tells a story to his fellow Marines about a former officer who hilariously misinterprets the world “dissemination.” The story ends with Peck yelling, “No one asked you, jizz boy!” As a Drake & Josh fan myself, I half expected Peck to say the line again “for emphasis.” It doesn’t feel much like a The Last of Us scene until Wright arrives and puts a damper on the mood. Then, the Westworld actor betrays his unit. He drops a grenade into the truck and kills them all—Peck's character included.

Before the episode aired, Peck teased his cameo with a TikTok skit about needing a therapist following Joel’s (Pascal) death. “I’m going through a loss,” he says in the video. “Joel, season 2, episode 2 of The Last of Us. It was devastating.”

Episode 4’s opener is likely all we’ll see from Peck’s character in The Last of Us season 2. His cameo mainly serves to help usher in Wright’s Isaac Dixon. Dixon is the leader of the Washington Liberation Front (W.L.F.), one of the primarily antagonists of The Last of Us season 2 and the organization that Abby and her friends seemingly belong to before they arrive on screen to kill Joel. While we wait to find out what else Dixon is capable of, we can add Peck to the list of The Last of Us characters that were gone too soon.
