Great British Bake Off contestant gasps as 'show first' bake broken by Paul Hollywood

A preview for the next episode of the Great British Bake Off teased drama, shocks and struggles for the contestants.
It's biscuit week, but it doesn't go well for more than one hopeful. In some tent drama, judge Paul Hollywood breaks a contestant's bake in a moment that leaves them openmouthed.
The Channel 4 baking competition made its long awaited comeback on Tuesday night, and it didn't disappoint. But amid the first elimination of the new series, a teaser for next week hinted at plenty of carnage as the next challenge begins.
From overheating in the tent due to the summer temperatures to broken baked goods, one moment sees a contestant screaming as another sees a frustrated baker swearing. The pressure gets a bit too much, as bake after bake falls apart.

In the same episode, contestants are seen trying to cool down as the tent reaches "29 degrees" as tested by one baker. As they struggle to get on with the tasks amid the soaring temperature, with the show filmed over summer, the heat is the least of their concerns.
In the short teaser it showed host Noel Fielding trying to reassure one hopeful, while clearly something has not gone to plan. Then there's break after break, with three hopeful's struggling to keep their biscuits together it seems.
But the moment that shocks those in the tent the most, leaving baker Iain literally openmouthed and unsure how to react, is when it comes to judges Paul and Prue Leith tasting the goods. As both Paul and Prue appear impressed by one biscuit that is moveable via a string, Paul comments how he's never seen anything like it.
The positive reaction is short-lived though, and something Paul does sparks gasps and shocked faces. Host Noel narrates the clip, warning the Showstopper round can "call time on almost anyone".
Just as he finishes saying this, we see Paul operating the puppet biscuit and saying: "Haven't seen one quite like that before." In that moment the biscuit breaks and hits the plate below.
As someone gasps, we see Iain's mouth drop and he looks very deflated as Prue is heard despairing: "Oh, don't." It's not confirmed whose bake it is, but judging by Iain's sad expression it's safe to assume it's his.
Viewers will have to tune in next week to find out if the break affects how the hopeful does, and how they react. It certainly looks set to be a dramatic day in the tent.
