Gordon Ramsay's close pal Fred Siriex to front new Kitchen Nightmares for Channel 4

Gordon Ramsay's close pal Fred Siriex to front new Kitchen Nightmares for Channel 4

Fred Sirieix is to follow in the footsteps of his TV pal Gordon Ramsay with a series in which he aims to rescue some of the nation’s “most broken hospitality businesses”. A decade after Kitchen Nightmares ended, Channel 4 has ordered Fred’s Hotel Fixers, in which the French maitre’d will help to turn around some of the UK’s most struggling venues.

But unlike with Gordon, 58, the First Dates star will do it with warmth and charm and without any shouting or swearing.

Fred, 53, who married his Jamaican wife ‘Fruitcake’ in the summer, will front the four-part series which claims to be “equal parts grit, heart and high standards.”

It comes after his ITV series Gordon, Gino and Fred's Road Trip - filmed alongside his mates Ramsay and Gino D’Acampo - came to an end. The celebrity trio appeared to be the best of friends as they travelled around Europe together. But Gino walked away from the show in 2023 over what he claimed were 'contract complications’.

Renowned for his charm, plus his commitment to five-star standards having had decades of experience in some of the finest hotels and restaurants, Fred will attempt to turn around the fortunes of some troubled hotels, guesthouse and restaurants.

One insider said: “From failing cafés and guesthouses drowning in one-star reviews to once-loved establishments struggling to survive, no business is too far gone in Fred’s eyes. Where others walk away, he sees untapped potential and he's ready to bring it to life.”

Each episode will follow a dramatic and emotionally charged transformation as Fred rolls up his sleeves and gets to work. And he will not work alone - enlisting a team of hospitality experts, who each brings their own unique skills to the table.

These include a tough-minded business strategist, a top-tier food and drink expert, a visionary interior designer and an incredible chef.

Fred told the Mirror: “Times are super tough in the hospitality business. If you are running a hotel, B&B, country house, guesthouse, bar/restaurant or even a glamping site that needs a reboot, then I want to hear from you. With my crack team of experts, we will help inject new life and more importantly revenue into your business. There will be tough conversations and decisions to make but with some hard work we can help to turn your business around.”

Channel 4 commissioning editor Clemency Green said Fred had been chosen for Hotel Fixers, due to air next year, because of his “genuine passion” and because of his expertise when it comes to knowing how to turn things around. She added: “This series will shine a light on real challenges faced by businesses across the UK, and do so with care, insight, and optimism – I am sure Fred, and the team will pull off some spectacular turnarounds.”

Gordon’s Kitchen Nightmares launched on Channel 4 in 2004 and the final run, set in British-run restaurants abroad - aired in 2014. Ramsay said he was ending it due to the physical and mental toll it was taking, and over his frustration with restaurants reverting to their old ways.
