Downton Abbey's forgotten stars - where are the cast of the original series now?

It's almost the end for ITV's internationally beloved period drama. The third and final film, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale hits cinemas this month, fifteen years after the original series began.
Throughout six seasons and two films, viewers joined the aristocratic Crawley family and their household staff as they navigated scandals, heartaches and numerous historical moments, including the sinking of the Titanic and the First World War.
Naturally, over fifteen years, the show has said goodbye to many characters and the stars who played them will not return for the saga's final chapter. But many have gone on to do incredible things. Here's a rundown of where they are now.
1 of 7 (ITV)The Crawley's youngest child was adored by fans and her death in series three left many devastated.
Since leaving the show, Jessica Brown Findlay has appeared in a number of films and TV shows, including period drama Harlots, and the 2018 film The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society alongside fellow Downton alum, Lily James.
Most recently, Jessica played Lucy Lambert, the mother of a child who was switched at birth, in ITV's Playing Nice.
2 of 7 (John Wilson/NETFLIX)It's admittedly hard to forget Matthew Crawley, the middle-class lawyer who suddenly found himself enmeshed with the aristocracy when he became the Earl of Grantham's heir. Fans of the show will remember Matthew's dramatic love story with Lady Mary and shocking exit when he was killed off in the 2012 Christmas special.
Eurovision fans will recognise actor Dan Stevens from Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, a comedy about the competition where he played a Russian singer called Alexander Lemtov.
Dan has also been in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and will return to the franchise in 2027 for Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.
3 of 7 (FX)Lady Rose, the rebellious niece of Maggie Smith's Violet, was one of Lily James' breakthrough roles and a main character in series four and five.
Lily has gone on to a number of very high-profile films and TV shows, including becoming a princess in a live-action remake of Disney's Cinderella and playing a young Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.
She also starred as Pamela Anderson in Hulu's series Pam & Tommy. Controversially, Pamela Anderson said she was not consulted about the production and, though she felt no ill will towards Lily, called out the show's producers: "You still owe me a public apology."
4 of 7 (Justin Downing/Netflix)Henry Talbot is a relatively recent Downton addition, first appearing in the 2014 Christmas special and only making sparse appearances since then but making quite the impression by sweeping Lady Mary off her feet. Though Matthew Goode briefly appeared in the first Downton film, he did not appear in the second and won't in the third.
Matthew's filmography is a long one and he's been in some hugely successful shows and films since Downton. He played Anthony Armstrong-Jones in The Crown, vampire Matthew de Clairmont in A Discovery Of Witches, and Captian Morton, the primary villain in The King's Man, a prequel to the popular Kingsman films.
Most recently, he was the troubled Carl Morck in Netflix's Dept. Q.
