Does the Predator: Badlands Trailer Reveal an Alien Crossover?

"If it bleeds, we can kill it." It's one of the most famous lines from the original Predator film in 1987, spoken by action star Arnold Schwarzenegger. This time around, the monster franchise asks you to think twice. In the new trailer for Predator: Badlands, the alien is one of the good guys now.
In short: we're rooting for the Predator this time. Taking a page out of the Terminator 2: Judgement Day playbook, Predator: Badlands flips the script on the series formula when a new Predator named Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) teams up with an android (played by Elle Fanning) to hunt down a massive creature. (Outlawed from his clan, the new Predator is likely proving his worth to win back his place among his fellow Predators.)
But that's not at all. In case you missed it, Fanning's android is a product of Weyland-Yutani from the Alien universe. Her origins are confirmed by the corporation's familiar logo, which appears several times behind Fanning's head (and in her eyes from the teaser released in April). With the influx of new media from both the Alien and Predator franchises, Predator: Badlands is surely setting up a new run of Alien vs. Predator movies in the future.
Audiences will find out for sure when the next installment in the Predator franchise opens in theaters on November 7. You can watch the trailer for Predator: Badlands below.
Whatever lies in store for both franchises, Predator: Badlands is bound to be another hit from Prey director Dan Trachtenberg. His previous Predator reimagining rocked, so it's not unreasonable to harbor high expectations for Badlands to deliver another round of gorgeous gore.
Honestly, my favorite thing about the Predator movies, which Badlands seems to hold true, is telling a simple story. Sure, spin-off Predator comics and video games have explored the world and culture of the Yautja—not to mention crossovers like when Predator fought Batman—but virtually every mainline Predator film has kept things beautifully bare bones. As for the monster at the end of the Badlands trailer? I can't wait to see it go toe-to-toe with the Predator this fall.
