Catherine Opie’s Gucci Campaign for Fall 2025 Feels Like a Step in the Wrong Direction…

Catherine Opie’s Gucci Campaign for Fall 2025 Feels Like a Step in the Wrong Direction…

Change is officially in the air at Gucci, now that Demna has presented his final collection as Balenciaga creative director and will stage his debut Gucci collection in September during Milan Fashion Week. Demna was appointed the creative force behind the Italian fashion house (founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci), following the not-so-unexpected exit of Sabato De Sarno in February. The Fall 2025 campaign is here, showcasing the collection presented back in February by the in-house design team. Catherine Opie was called upon to lens the accompanying campaign, with the American photographer pointing her lens toward an ensemble cast. The subjects (including Alix Bouthors and Cole Mohr) pose in the studio and do little much else, resulting in a series of simplistic portraits.

“LOL! Ready for yet another -25% sales for H2 2025, uh?” voiced FashionPower upon checking out the campaign.

“Let the Gucci implosion begin, I guess,” commented forum member jeremydante.

“Feel like they’re trying to pull a pretentious Raf Simons Prada moment,” oioioi pointed out.

Also far from impressed was vogue28. “Dumbfounding to think this is coming from the same brand that gave us those fierce, fabulous, and glamorous Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott campaigns under Frida Giannini. What an absolute dire state Gucci is in,” he cried out.

“Dreadful. I miss Frida Giannini,” Scotty echoed.

“Everything about this is just very… meh. I don’t understand this cast,” shared niknak.
