Arc’teryx Jackets Are 30% Off Right Now

The end of summer seems years away. This weekend, my wife and I got day drunk (she was drinking through a straw; I absolutely was not) on Saturday. She was at the beach with my Steele Canvas x Fursac bag and friends on Sunday. I was on the front steps with a Yeti cooler reading about ancient Greece. Realistically, though, it's about to come crashing down. Summer is soon to be gone for me, you, and everyone else. Now's the time to prepare.
But we don't get fatter like squirrels and birds. We buy clothes. Fall and winter coats, sure. But it's rain shells that will be our most viable commodity for blocking constant wind and occasional rain come October. Thankfully, a few of the best Arc'teryx models out there are on sale right now.
Of course, we're fans of the plain-Jane Beta rain shell, but there are better models on sale this week. First, you have that Beta AR above, which rarely sees discounts of any sort because of its popularity. (If you're unfamiliar with the brand's nomenclature, Beta and AR are both signifiers of a versatile city-slash-mountain piece.) Getting it for $420 is honestly insane.
At REI, there are a handful of other models hitting the discount racks. My callout would be the Beta SL shell, a more lightweight version of the standard Beta and Beta AR. It's more techy and packable—huge if you're an ultralight hiker or bike to work and need a stuff-sack jacket you can always toss in the work bag—but won't be as durable.
If you need less than a rain shell, I'm a huge fan of the Atom SL. It's the ultimate layering piece for anything outdoors that's too strenuous for a down jacket. The Gamma Hoodie is a nice city jacket, adapted to light rain and wind. The Kyanite Fleece, the last thing I'll mention, is a slightly less warm layer, good to go under a shell for a strenuous day.
All in all, something on this list is going to come in handy when the weather turns. And as it always does, that weather will be here before you know it. You can wait until it's here and pay full price for a jacket, or you can heed my warning. This is the only time of the year you'll get a deal like this on Arc'teryx. Grab a jacket now, store it until fall, and break it out as soon as you need it. Thank me later.
