The Cyprus leg of the 6th Presidential International Yacht Race has concluded.

The Cyprus Arkın Karpaz Gate Marina Cup stage of the 6th Presidential International Yacht Races, organized under the auspices of the Presidency, with the contributions of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey, in cooperation with TGA, and with the main sponsorship of DHL Express, has concluded.
The Cyprus leg of the 6th Presidential International Yacht Race, featuring racers from around the world, began in Marmaris on July 20th. 150 athletes competed for 100 hours on a 340-nautical-mile course. Held to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, the races, which stand out as a powerful symbol of respect for the independence and freedom of our sister nation, the TRNC, and of devotion to the Blue Homeland, concluded with a magnificent ceremony.
The ceremony, held at the Arkın Karpaz Gate Marina, was attended by numerous guests including TRNC President Ersin Tatar, Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia Ali Murat Başçeri, Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı, TRNC Member of Parliament Fikri Toros, Kyrenia Mayor Murat Şenkul, Turkish Sailing Federation President Özlem Akdurak, and TRNC Cyprus Turkish Sailing-Motor-Rowing Federation President Mehmet Salih Havalı.
In his speech at the event, Ekrem Yemlihaoğlu, President of the Presidential International Yacht Races Organizing Committee, said, "We are at a point we dreamed of and planned for six years ago. We need to make the presence of sailors and seafarers felt on every sea. This has been a wonderful race in which we will showcase all the beauties of our paradise country and Cyprus to the world."
TRNC President Ersin Tatar expressed his great pleasure in holding such an international event in Cyprus, saying, "We are delighted that our sails are participating in such races in the Eastern Mediterranean, in the Blue Homeland, and that they are announcing to the international community the beauty, peace, and struggle of the people here."
The Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Nicosia, Ali Murat Başçeri, congratulated the contestants for their efforts.
Arkın Group Chairman Erbil Arkın also said that he was very happy to host the races.
Turkish Sailing Federation President Özlem Akdurak congratulated all teams competing in the race.
After the speeches, the winners were presented with their trophies.
The grand prize goes to the Naval AcademyThe Best Corrected Time Award was won by the Naval Academy Team Arma, led by Ahmet Gönenç Torun. The team received its trophy from TRNC President Ersin Tatar.
Completing the 340-nautical-mile course in 50 hours, the Arkın Group Sailing Team, under the management of Deniz Fıçı, was awarded the Line Honours Award. The team was presented with the trophy by Ali Murat Başçeri, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Nicosia.
In the ORC O category, the Mersin Sailing Academy team under the management of Oytun Çalışlar came in first, while the Arkın Group Sailing Team under the management of Deniz Fıçı came in second and the Göztepe Yelken Ağanlar under the management of Derya Yenigün came in third.
In the ORC A category, the Naval Academy Team, directed by Ahmet Gönenç Torun, won first place, while the MSÜ Naval Academy Team Tramola, directed by Acar Koparal, came in second, and the Anyuta Team, directed by Aliksei Koziukov, came in third.
In the Traveler Class, the Naval Academy team Akova, directed by Mehmet Ali Şahin, took first place, while the Mudanya University team, directed by Ömer Bingöl, came in second and the Jacques Philippe Rüzgarın Chase Team, directed by Hasan Basri Aslan, came in third.
The teams were presented with special awards designed by Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD). Team captains also received watches.
