The champions of the Ümraniye Foot Tennis Tournament have been announced.

The winners of the Foot Tennis Tournament held at the Ümraniye National Park have been announced. 72 teams and 288 athletes aged 16 and over participated in the tournament. Ümraniye Mayor İsmet Yıldırım presented the winning teams with cash prizes and medals.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Yıldırım said, “This year marks the third year of the Foot Tennis tournament. We say that sports in Ümraniye are uniquely beautiful. Our events continue in every branch. We continue to participate in sports with 100,000 people in Ümraniye. We are working to increase this number. When I took office in 2019, the Ümraniye Municipality had only 5,000 people participating in sports. Now, that number has reached 100,000.”

Yıldırım said, “The foot tennis tournament is just one of these efforts. 72 teams participated in the tournament. The tournament kicked off this morning. Of course, there will be teams that finish first, second, third, and fourth. This year, for the first time, players from outside Istanbul, such as Kütahya and Gebze, participated. Pendik took first place this year. Last year, they also finished second in the final. I congratulate them and wish them continued success. I think the most important thing here is to come here successfully and play this sport. That's the most valuable thing. Today, a total of 288 football fans from 72 teams participated in this tournament. I think this is very valuable. I believe this tournament, known as foot football and played in the form of foot tennis, should be held more intensively in other districts and provinces and eventually become a national tournament.”

İbrahim Korkmaz, who came from Kütahya for the tournament, said, "We participated in the tournament with our friends. We learned about the tournament organized by the Ümraniye Municipality through our friends and wanted to participate. That's why we came here. A truly wonderful tournament was held today. First and foremost, I'd like to thank the Ümraniye Municipality and İsmet Yıldırım. It was a very successful organization. It was a very important event for the popularization and promotion of foot tennis. We thank them very much for this wonderful organization."
