Last year we had major forest fires.

We have experienced major forest fires in previous years as well...

This year, our forest fires continue at an increasing pace.

I'm no prophet, but I can say with certainty that our country is facing another major forest fire next year. In fact, we may experience further major forest fires in the years to come.

The primary reason for this is the sheer number of our enemies. Foreign intelligence agencies and terrorist organizations are leading the way in this regard. Every country and its contractors that cannot engage our country in the "field of battle" are attacking us from every corner they perceive as weak. Their most treacherous act in this regard is targeting our defenseless forests.

The second reason for forest fires is that our people have not received sufficient training on this subject.

Ultimately, one way or another, what happens is happening to our forests and our future.

So what can we do?

All relevant government institutions must collaborate on public education in an organized manner. This will take time, but it must start somewhere.

Taking precautions against deliberate attacks is an issue to be managed in coordination by the Ministry of Forestry and the state's security forces.

Let's get to the crux of the matter: Despite all precautions, fires will always occur. Initial response and extinguishing operations are crucial here, too. We must elevate these operations to the highest level.

The most significant shortcoming we've seen in the fires we've experienced is the almost non-existent nighttime response. Fires that nearly extinguish during the day flare up again at night, continuing at the same pace the next day as if no extinguishing efforts had been made the day before. Whatever is necessary for nighttime firefighting must be done in full force. Night-vision helicopters are the most prominent response tool in this regard. Therefore, we will not eat or drink, but we must ensure that there are sufficient numbers of these in all our forest areas.

I am warning you from here, there will be forest fires next year too, let's take precautions now.
