It was only done on holidays, now it has become a source of income.

Twelve women employed at the İpekyolu Samsat "Samsat Bun" Livelihood Facility started production using flour, fennel, sesame, black cumin, salt, vegetable anhydrous oil and yellow marshmallow.

The pastry, which is produced without losing its traditional taste, is sent to all over Türkiye upon order.

Samsat Mayor Halil Fırat told an AA correspondent that they are happy to produce the traditional flavor unique to the district.

Fırat, stating that Samsat buns are produced entirely naturally, continued: "We wanted to choose a field that highlights our women's labor and culture. Therefore, we focused on the production of Samsat buns, a traditional flavor unique to Samsat. Our most important point in this process was to maintain the original taste of Samsat buns. While keeping this tradition alive, our women produce using completely natural methods without using any additives."

Fırat, noting that women were employed as part of the project, said, "We are employing 12 women at our facility. Our project has received more attention than we expected and has made a significant impact in the region."

Targeting 1 ton per day

Fırat stated that product diversity will be increased in the future and concluded his remarks as follows:

"We aim to soon switch to a three-shift system and produce an average of 1 ton per day. We also plan to expand our product range and produce salty, buttery, and sweet buns. We are delighted that our women are both involved in production and contributing to the family budget. This project contributes to Samsat's economic development while also enabling us to pass on our culture to future generations."

Ayşegül Açıkalın, who works at the facility, stated that they are keeping the district's flavor alive while also generating income.

Zeliha Karakuş also noted that having a profession and earning an income makes her and her family happy.
