Rapper Emirhan Çakal, who performed at the Sunflower Festival in the Hayrabolu district of Tekirdağ, was shot in the leg with an air rifle while being taken off the stage by a crane after the concert.
Çakal, 24, was struck in the right knee by a pellet gun. He received first aid at Hayrabolu State Hospital and was later transferred to a private hospital in Istanbul.
An investigation into the incident determined that the person who opened fire with an air rifle was FD, who lives near the festival area. He was detained and subsequently arrested on charges of "intentional wounding" after processing at the police station.
Çakal, who shared a photo from his hospital room after the events, addressed his loved ones.
"I'm fine, I can walk, and I'm in good health. I'm sorry to bother you with such an incident," said the famous rapper, adding:
"As someone who has dedicated herself to stage shows, my only desire is to be in the news for the work I do, the dreams I have, and the projects I have accomplished. Not for the car I drive, the clothes I wear, or the ridiculous news I publish."
Çakal emphasized his desire to be remembered for the firsts he's accomplished on stage, saying, "My only wish is to be remembered fondly at the concerts I give throughout this journey and to gather together at many more gatherings. I want to continue this journey, which began in Turkey, globally, representing our country in the best possible way. Always with love and respect..."
The rapper's close friend, Ibrahim Tilaver, known as Ebo, also went to the hospital and visited Çakal after the attack.
