675 years of history in Gümüşhane: The İmera Monastery has become a favorite among photography enthusiasts.

675 years of history in Gümüşhane: The İmera Monastery has become a favorite among photography enthusiasts.

The visual feast created by the yellowing leaves of the wild poplars makes the Imera Monastery a popular destination not only for photographers but also for those seeking peace and tranquility away from the noise of the city.

Selami Karaaslan, who stated that he had visited the region for the first time in the autumn and was impressed by the scenery, said, "I welcome everyone here. The riot of color that began in Gümüşhane in October will end in the Spider Forest by the end of November."

The Imera Monastery, one of the historical and cultural treasures of Gümüşhane, one of the three cities with the most registered churches in Türkiye, is located within the borders of the Olucak village of the city center.

According to written sources, the monastery was built in the Gothic style in 1350. The 675-year-old Imera Monastery, which bears the characteristics of the Christian Orthodox faith and attracts attention with its architectural features, is not only built using the Gothic architecture and the earth lighting technique, but also holds the distinction of being one of the most valuable and well-preserved monasteries in the region in terms of architecture and technique.
