William Bonner is invited to Maria de Fátima's wedding

William Bonner is invited to Maria de Fátima's wedding

The fictional wedding celebration between Maria de Fátima and Afonso, characters from the remake of the soap opera Vale Tudo, has been making waves online this week. The episode, which will air on Wednesday night (9), is one of the most anticipated moments of the TV Globo series. However, the unexpected highlight came from journalist William Bonner, who joined in the fun by sharing a symbolic invitation to the ceremony on social media.

While displaying the illustrated invitation backstage at the station, the Jornal Nacional host made fun of the situation. "Working here at the firm has its perks," Bonner wrote in a humorous tone, referring to Globo, the company where he has worked for decades. Actress Bella Campos, who plays Fátima, commented on the post: "Wow, Faty, very chic."

The wedding sequence marks a turning point in the story of Maria de Fátima, played by Bella Campos. Before the wedding, the protagonist experienced a tense confrontation with her mother, Raquel, played by Taís Araujo. The confrontation was marked by revelations about family betrayals, accusations of financial gain, and a scene of intense emotional impact, in which her mother tears her wedding dress in a gesture of anger.

The scene was widely shared on social media, both for the dramatic reunion between mother and daughter and the audience's affectionate response. In an interview, Taís Araujo reflected on the power of drama. "I received a wave of love from my colleagues, my friends, and the audience. It was beautiful. The most important thing is to make others feel the emotion. That's our job," she stated.

In the new version of the soap opera, the character Raquel discovers that she was deceived by her daughter, who even sold the house where they lived, leaving her destitute. Faced with this, she decides to confront her daughter during her dress fitting, in front of witnesses such as Odete Roitman (Débora Bloch) and Celina (Malu Galli), which triggers a heated argument.

At 61, William Bonner, one of the leading figures in Brazilian television journalism, showed a lighthearted approach to integrating himself into the network's marketing campaign, demonstrating a connection with the audience and the behind-the-scenes story. The journalist's attitude also generated humorous reactions among internet users, who imagined the anchor as a master of ceremonies or even a narrator of the fictional event.

The sequence reinforces the impact of the Vale Tudo remake, which has been constantly compared to its original 1988 version. However, Taís Araujo highlighted that the current proposal is not to compete with the past, but rather to pay homage to the classic production: "We are not here to compete, but to pay homage."
