At 46, Alda Gomes is living one of her biggest dreams. The renowned actress is pregnant for the first time, a dream she achieved after four and a half years of treatment.
In an interview with Cristina Ferreira and Cláudio Ramos on the program 'Dois às 10' this Wednesday, August 20, the artist noted that getting pregnant "was a very big dream", which took "many years" to achieve.
She recalls that when she revealed her plans to get pregnant to her doctor, she told her that it was possible, despite her illness (Alda was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis).
" We thought about giving up. There was a time when we talked about it," she said, referring to Vasco Teodoro - with whom she has been in a relationship for 12 years - and a time when she was unable to get pregnant naturally.
"But then you start to reach 40, 42, 44 [years old] and there's a feeling, a butterflies in your stomach of 'oh my God, I'm going to be alone, I'm not going to be a mother', this feeling of the end" , she says, highlighting that this was her personal case and that she in no way judges women who, by choice, choose not to have children.
Alda Gomes noticed that she began creating things to fill her life and fill this void, but that nothing made her feel fulfilled.
Now, when she managed to get pregnant, the actress decided not to tell the news to practically anyone during the first three months of her pregnancy, since, considering her age, there was a risk of losing the baby.
So, when he told his family that he had finally succeeded, it was a huge surprise: "It was shocking for the family," he recalls.
Expecting a baby girl, whose birth is scheduled for December 26th, Alda and her partner have not yet decided on a name, however, they know it will be small.
Being a mother at 46 leads the actress to consider other questions about the future. "This child's adolescence will be in my sixties. And what will that be like? Will I have the patience, or won't I? Will I be the only 'quota' mother at school?" she asks reflectively.
Rheumatoid arthritis - Alda Gomes' disease
In an interview with Fama ao Minuto in 2019, Alda Gomes revealed that she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 30. "I had just turned 30, and it was very complicated. My rheumatoid arthritis symptoms appeared in 2009, ten years ago, but I was only diagnosed with the disease in August 2010," she highlighted.
"Physically, I wasn't well. I had chronic pain, I couldn't get out of bed, I didn't understand what was wrong, my hands started to deform and I was going everywhere, all kinds of medicine, and they couldn't tell me. It wasn't until 2010 when I went to the Portuguese Institute of Rheumatology that they diagnosed me," he highlighted.

Alda Gomes was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis nine years ago, a disease that is now more than controlled, but she spoke about it in a conversation with Notícias ao Minuto. In addition to her health, she also recalled her entire professional career, without forgetting the dreams she still has to fulfill.
