Almost two weeks after the death of Diogo Jota and André Silva, Fernando Mendes paid tribute to the football brothers who died tragically in a car accident.

During the program 'O Preço Certo', a photo of Diogo Jota and André Silva was shown on the big screen and the presenter said: "It's been a few days, a few weeks... I wanted to pay a great tribute to two great football players, two extraordinary men who have passed away. Diogo Jota and André Silva have unfortunately left us."

He then offered words of comfort to those closest to the footballing brothers. "A big hug to the family, parents, wife, children, and all their friends. And to the football family. A big hug to them. This one's for you."

The audience applauded this tribute, and the emotion was evident in this unique moment. "We must continue. Stay strong, family," Fernando Mendes concluded.

This moment was later highlighted on the presenter's Instagram page, and reactions quickly poured in in the comments section. "Peace to their souls," wrote one user. "Fernandinho, a giant," responded another follower. "Great Nando," one could read among the messages.

Today marks exactly two weeks since Diogo Jota, 28, and André Silva, 25, suffered their tragic accident. The footballer brothers died in the early hours of last Thursday, July 3rd, following the accident in Spain.

At the time, Diogo Jota was on his way to England and had planned to travel by car and then by ferry, as he had been advised not to travel by plane due to lung surgery.

The footballer, who played for Liverpool, planned to drive to Santander and then take a boat to Portsmouth. However, he was involved in an accident in the Zamora area, about 350 kilometers away. The car he was traveling in with his brother, André, apparently veered off the road after a tire burst, engulfing the vehicle in flames.

The funeral of the footballing brothers took place the following Saturday, on July 5th, and was attended by several names from the world of football, such as the Liverpool and Penafiel squads (where André Silva played), but the absence of national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo did not go unnoticed.

Since the passing of Diogo Jota and André Silva, tributes have been paid to both. In fact, a memorial was created next to the English club's stadium in honor of Jota's death. Recently, the player's wife, Rute Cardoso, was at the memorial with some family members, including the players' mother. Images circulating online reportedly reveal the message Rute left on the memorial: "I love you, forever... your little white girl."

Rute Cardoso was with some family members, including her mother-in-law, and Liverpool players at the memorial held next to the English club's stadium for the death of Diogo Jota. The footballer's wife left a message.
