They bid their final farewell to María Cristina Camilo

During a solemn ceremony at the facilities of Dominican Radio Television, Channel 4, the final farewell was given to María Cristina Camilo (Maita) , prior to her burial this Sunday at the Puerta del Cielo Cemetery.

In his speech, the Minister of Culture , Roberto Ángel Salcedo , highlighted Maita 's extensive career in communications, on national radio, on television, on stage, in the theater and in the film industry, ensuring that she always did so with the same parameters and protocols:

That was his personal trademark , spread over a long and fruitful life , he added.

Maita was a woman allergic to rice , but also to resentment, conflict, problems... She always maintained her characteristic smile and wore her Thursday white outfit.”

He also shared anecdotes about his life experiences with the important multifaceted woman , “always willing to share the knowledge she had accumulated throughout a prodigious career and make it available to new generations .”

Standing before her coffin, the minister remembered her as an impeccable professional in every performance and on every stage where she held responsibilities.

“If there was a call from the television station , she was the first to arrive. If there was a theater commitment, she was also the first. She always had her materials ready and the necessary tools to fulfill it. She did it because of the broad sense of discipline she developed.”

He asserted that with the physical passing of María Cristina Camilo , the media closes a cycle and begins a new stage to extend her legacy of the best of Dominican media to the new generations .

A museum in his honor

Clearly moved, his voice choked with emotion, Ellis Pérez , president of the RTVD Board of Directors , spoke of Camilo's greatness and proposed that, as a posthumous tribute , the María Cristina Camilo Museum be built on the state channel's premises.

At the end of this tribute, her grandson , José Danilo González Ortiz , also spoke, highlighting that his grandmother lived 107 years preparing for this moment, with a pure life, dedicated to love, art, people and service.
