Pablo Cruz Guerrero: performance in the series Chespirito

The series Chespirito: Sin querer queriendo has generated great expectations since its premiere on June 5, 2025, on the Max streaming platform. Based on the life of the iconic Mexican comedian and actor Roberto Gómez Bolaños , the production was created by his son Roberto Gómez Fernández. It reveals little-known aspects of both the personal life of the Mexican genius and the cast that accompanied him.
Pablo Cruz Guerrero , who plays Chespirito in the series , recently attended the Platino Awards in Madrid , Spain, where we had the opportunity to talk with him, the star of one of the most talked-about productions of the moment.
For Mexican Cruz, embodying a global icon is no easy task, and when it comes to Roberto Gómez Bolaños — actor , comedian, writer, director, and film and television producer—the challenge becomes even greater.
"I feel very calm because everyone involved in this project gave it their all. We put all our time, will, disposition, and the best attitude into doing justice to these characters , whom we love so much and who have left so much for Latin American families," the actor declared before the premiere, referring to his expectations for the series .
Pablo was aware that the project would generate controversy , since it was a program that accompanied the majority of Latin Americans for years and around which much speculation has been woven.
However, he made it clear that the intention was not to fuel those rumors or seek comparisons with the characters in the series , but to show what happened behind the scenes , when the lights and cameras were turned off, and there was no script.
"It is very important to point out that we are not recreating the episodes of El Chavo del 8, El Chapulín Colorado, or El Chaparrón Bonaparte. What we are doing is telling a story: that of Roberto Gómez Bolaños ."
"What we wanted was to pay him a loving tribute , seen from a very loving perspective and with great respect for those involved and Chespirito's colleagues ." "It wasn't a parody; it was a tribute full of respect and heart," he explained.
Faced with the difficulty of finding an acting tone that would prevent his performance from being perceived as a parody—something that had been common in the past—Pablo asserted that the key was the emotional charge with which they approached the project , in addition to the admiration and respect for those who gave life to the characters idealized by Roberto.
"It wasn't our goal, it wasn't our idea, and it wasn't our approach to the story.
I think that all the actors and actresses who were portraying the characters of the neighborhood and everyone around them, what we were doing was an interpretation within this fable, within this wonderful tale, of what we have at our disposal, emotional tools as interpreters to be able to convey the essence of what we understand from a lot of information, from watching videos, photos, hours and hours of archives to understand who those people were."

"We are not recreating the episodes of El Chavo del 8, what we are doing is telling a story, that of Chespirito" Pablo Cruz Guerrero Actor “
"It's like seeing, in a way, these actors and actresses personified in these characters we love so much, but what we're seeing is how they enter and exit scenes; we never see them recreated, because the Chespirito episodes are already very well done, and that's why they've had the success they've had."
Its preparationThe preparation was intense and exhaustive . The Chespirito singer revealed: "They were intense days, asking Chespirito's family (his children) lots of questions, from what music he listened to to how they got along and what the dynamics and relationships were like between each of them.
And that opened the door for us to be able to connect and let people know what was going on behind the scenes."
The actor 's characterization required an hour and a half a day from Monday to Saturday.
She explained: "From shaving my face, shaving my hairline and brushing it back to give me a bigger forehead, wearing contact lenses and a prosthetic nose, and applying a layer of makeup to give my skin some texture and freckles."

The series traces the career of Roberto Gómez Bolaños, focusing on his career and personal life. "We see Roberto's story up to the age of 51, from his childhood, how he created his characters, how he met his collaborators, and how his life changed as a result of what he created."
Although this role has given him greater notoriety , the 41-year-old actor is known for his participation in soap operas, series, plays and films, both in Mexico and in Spain and the United States.
Among them we can mention Word of a Woman, Luis Miguel: The Series and When I Fall in Love.
