"I dedicate this Award - Bajani said after his victory - to books, to literature against simplification. We are in a moment of great widespread violence, and violence is often responded to with simplification. Books can restore the complexity of things , and I believe that this is what we need". This was said by Andrea Bajani, winner of the Strega Prize, on the sidelines of the ceremony at the Ninfeo di Villa Giulia. "I want my books to reach places where they normally don't reach: in the homes of those who think that literature is not for them, of those who only look for confirmation of their ideas in books. I hope instead that readers will also face taboos, such as the one rooted in our culture whereby some men believe they can command by gender rights: a clear message must reach them, because a change must start from them", continued Bajani.
