5 Best Boxing Gloves, Tested and Reviewed

5 Best Boxing Gloves, Tested and Reviewed
Hayabusa T360 Boxing Gloves

Now 11% Off

Credit: Hayabusa
Pros
  • Superb wrist and knuckle protection
  • Clean minimalist aesthetics
Cons
  • Difficult to take on and off quickly
  • Microfiber thumb does not last long

It seemed impossible for any glove maker to top the legendary T3 by Hayabusa. But Hayabusa outdid themselves with the newer T360, a successor to the T3 that feels in every way an improvement.

Like the T3, the T360 features the same "Dual X" interlocking straps, which ensure a tailored fit to almost any wrist size. But the T360 takes things up a few notches with improved ergonomics and a curved grip bar that naturally aligns your knuckles to deliver a proper punch. It's also a light glove; my jabs have never been faster or more accurate than when I wear the T360s. Visually, the T360 is clean as heck. The flat matte Vylar leather and neutral monocolor schemes subtly tell everyone else that you mean business.

In a pinch, the dual straps make the gloves hard to pull off and put back on, but the security outweighs the extra seconds you'll spend getting the fit right. Hayabusa also touts a built-in microfiber wipe atop the thumbs to get the sweat from your eyes. While it's useful for a few sessions, they wear out fast, rendering them useless after a month or so of regular training.

PRO
Credit: Modest Vintage Player
Pros
  • Gorgeous vintage aesthetics
  • Comfortable, but not tight
Cons
  • Adequate protection at best
  • Smooth finish can lead to slippage upon impact

While too many boxing glove brands opt for gaudy designs that make you look like you're strapping on cans of energy drinks, Modest Vintage Player's retro vibes can bring some classiness back to your workout.

An online-only retailer, Modest Vintage Player specializes in vintage-inspired sporting goods with modern quality. Their catalog of boxing and MMA gloves all come in neutral leather variants, which conjure the old school auras of Jake LaMotta and Sugar Ray Robinson. MVP's base tier gloves, the confusingly named PRO, can't be beat if we're talking style. These gloves look gorgeous, and look even better when in use.

Under the hood, the gloves offer adequate protection for the knuckles and wrists. They're cushy and roomy and whether or not all that room in your gloves is a good thing comes down to preference and training intensity. These gloves aren't for everyone, but they're definitely for a certain type of someone.

T3
Pros
  • Ergonomic fit
  • Protective wrist straps
  • Dozens of colors, plus Marvel and Star Wars variants
Cons
  • Same price as the slightly-improved T360
  • Dual wrist straps hard to take on and off quickly

When you come for the king, you best not miss.

While Hayabusa has the much-improved T360, it's hard to ignore the merits of its iconic T3 even now. Still one of the most protective and durable gloves on the market, the T3 is a staple at virtually any boxing gym, and for a good reason. These things last a long time. The Hayabusa T3 isn't just a smart purchase, it's an investment for anyone remotely serious about their training.

Much of the successor T360's perks and features were formulated with the T3: the dual strap enclosure, ergonomic design, and splintered support that supports perfect wrist alignment even at impact. It should surprise no one that Hayabusa's continuing collabs with Marvel and Star Wars use these gloves for all those designs. It's because they work, and because they're gloves you actually want to use. And with an overwhelming amount of color options to choose from, you'll definitely find a T3 that suits your personal style.

x TEKKEN Jin Kazama
Pros
  • Coolest. Gloves. Ever.
  • Excellent palm and knuckle supports
Cons
  • Limited release, won't last forever

To mark the release of Tekken 8 in 2024, Venum—the official outfitter of the UFC since 2020—released a special edition glove inspired by Tekken protagonist and master martial artist, Jin Kazama.

While really just a reskin of Venum's existing Impact Pro, there's just something about wearing official Tekken merch at the gym that exudes aura. The wing design and blue and white colorways of the glove, based on Jin's tracksuit in the video game, can make you feel like you can trigger your own Devil Gene from within.

The downside of Venum's collabs is that these gloves won't last forever. Luckily, should these run out, you can just pick up the normal Impact Pro gloves, which are great gloves unto themselves. The triple-density foam provides plenty of protection on the knuckles, while a reinforced palm provides comfort as you clench through punches. Tiny perforated holes around the fingers also allow some much-needed airflow.

Supergel V
Credit: Superare
Pros
  • Airtight fit feels protective
  • Handsome matte finish
Cons
  • Painful break-in period takes time

Since its launch in 2011 in New York City, Superare has cornered the market on martial arts equipment and streetwear. In addition to its array of gloves, shin guards, and gym bags, Superare's collection of hoodies and joggers can make you feel like a champ outside the gym.

But Superare's gloves really punch above their weight, so to speak. One tier above their base Finisher gloves is the Supergel V. A versatile glove with a clean matte finish look, the Supergel V boasts a mesh palm and smooth microfiber lining, letting your paws breathe while providing airtight support to help you throw the meanest hooks and crosses you possibly can.

The proprietary "Supergel" padding on the inside of the gloves will take some time getting used to, and yes, it might hurt during that process. But once these bad boys are broken in, it feels like heaven for your fists. It took some time to get used to them, but now my hooks feel so meaty when I wear my Supergel Vs.
