Maserlyn Núñez: acrobat who defies gravity with her hair at DGT

Maserlyn Núñez: acrobat who defies gravity with her hair at DGT

With determination, elegance and serenity in the face of danger, Maserlyn Núñez defied gravity with an act that charmed the stage of Dominicana's Got Talent .

Her hair suspension performance, a form of aerial dance in which the body is supported only by the hair, left the audience breathless and took her straight to the next round of the competition.

For some, her hair length might seem daunting. But for Maserlyn, it's the result of years of preparation and discipline . "How strong is that hair? Aren't you scared?" were inevitable questions, but like any seasoned pro, she answered with confidence.

"Like any sport, it's done gradually. You acquire mental and neuromuscular endurance , and it truly transforms your life. This discipline is more mental than physical, and the hairstyle is so secure that there's no way it will come undone," explained a smiling Maserlyn, 29, in an interview with Diario Libre.

Her passion for movement began at age 12 , when she practiced artistic gymnastics on her own at home, guided by YouTube tutorials. "I was super obsessed with gymnastics and dance ," she recalls .

At 15 and 16, she enrolled in a formal gymnastics school ; at 17, she competed nationally and placed second. A year later, she became an instructor , exploring other disciplines such as hip hop , pole dancing , and aerial dance , which ultimately led her to develop her own style.

"I've been on stages before, but being on this platform (Dominicana's Got Talent) "It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life," she says. Núñez said she felt happy and excited by the judges' support during the recording.

Currently, Maserlyn runs her own aerial dance school in Cabarete , Puerto Plata, and dreams of opening more artistic training centers throughout the country if she wins the prize.

On stage, Maserlyn doesn't just defy gravity : she reclaims her strength . Her hair, more than a physical element, is her shield and her symbol —her own version of Samson's fortitude.
