The 52-year-old German model and presenter outdid herself once again with a spectacular creation: a mythological jellyfish straight from the seabed and Greek nightmares.
A costume worthy of a museum.With greenish skin , hand-painted scales and a headdress in the shape of a moving snake's nest , Klum became the sensation of the night at her traditional party held at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York .
" Medusa has always struck me as a truly iconic character, mysterious and fierce at the same time," she explained to Vogue . "The legend that she turned humans to stone has fascinated audiences for centuries."
The result was so impressive that her legs and feet weren't even visible: her entire body was encased in a structure that mimicked the reptilian tail of the mythological monster. Her husband, Tom Kaulitz , guitarist for the band Tokio Hotel, accompanied her as a stone warrior .
As every year, the transformation process was almost a show in itself.
Klum documented on Instagram the nine hours it took her to become a jellyfish , sharing everything from the first piece of the costume, some sharp fangs , to the moment her skin turned green with the help of renowned prosthetic specialist Mike Marino .
Marino, known for transforming Colin Farrell into the Penguin and Sebastian Stan into Edward for A Different Man, was the mastermind behind the effects that made the supermodel disappear completely behind the creature.
During the process, Heidi accompanied her posts with music, including the song Motomami (Berghain) by Rosalía, while her more than 12.5 million followers followed the metamorphosis step by step.
