The General Society of Dominican Authors, Composers and Music Publishers ( Sgacedom ) successfully held its annual Ordinary General Assembly of members, where it openly and transparently displayed important reports that support the progress and sustained growth of this collective copyright management entity.

At the meeting held at a hotel in Santo Domingo , in an atmosphere marked by fellowship and active participation of the faculty members, the administrative, economic and management reports corresponding to 2025 were presented, showing satisfactory results .

In the financial report , audited by independent professionals, Sgacedom reached record revenue this year, amounting to RD$232,863,735 in national and international revenue collection ; more than 28 million pesos higher than what was collected in 2024. Of this amount, the entity distributed more than RD$135 million pesos in royalty distributions to its partners for copyright .

The report also reflects Sgacedom 's allocation to social assistance for its members, which amounts to RD$31 million pesos, invested in projects ranging from medical insurance payments, funeral expenses , and life insurance for members.

Valerio de León , president of Sgacedom , indicated that these figures confirm the entity's progress , with sustained progress in its collections .

On the other hand, he highlighted the achievements in terms of inter-institutional relations , with new spaces for growth at the local and international levels, such as the recent participation in the General Assembly of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers ( Cisac ), held in May in Bulgaria , where topics of great interest to the creative music industry were discussed.

"One of the central topics at this international gathering was the creation of works generated by artificial intelligence and the development of strategies to address this practice, which is currently unregulated and directly affects the work of collective management organizations. We at Sgacedom cannot ignore this reality," said the society 's president.

Training programs

In his management report, the president of Sgacedom also presented the training programs implemented, which range from workshops to encourage creativity and competitiveness among authors to participation in seminars and conferences to promote copyright and collective management in the country.

It will remain in our organization's memory as a historic gathering where the issues affecting us were discussed and a variety of perspectives were presented with respect and maturity, where we all share the common goal of achieving the best for our institution and our members," he concluded.
