Duchess Meghan: She wears Princess Diana's iconic sweater

Princess Diana made the purple Northwestern University sweater famous, and now Duchess Meghan is also seen wearing the top.
Fashionable tribute to the late Princess Diana (1961-1997): Duchess Meghan (43) shared a video in an Instagram story in which she reinterprets a legendary look of the princess. In the clip, which shows the Duchess of Sussex gardening, she is wearing a purple "Northwestern" sweater - just like Diana, the mother of her husband Prince Harry (40), once wore.
"A little break from work to enjoy the weekend," Meghan captioned the clip, in which she walks through her garden, showing off her flowering plants and watering the beds. The sweater from Northwestern University, which Meghan attended from 1999 to 2003, can be seen as the camera pans to herself.
Diana's iconic outfit from 1996Princess Diana, who died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997, wore an identical sweater in 1996. The mother of Prince Harry and Prince William (42) reportedly received the garment as a gift in 1995 after visiting the campus to raise money for the university's cancer center.
The following year, the famous photo of Diana wearing the purple sweater with white cycling shorts, a Gucci handbag and sneakers outside the Chelsea Harbour Club in London was taken. The outfit is considered one of Diana's most famous looks.

It is not the first time that Meghan has commemorated her late mother-in-law in fashion. In November 2021, for example, she wore Diana's Cartier diamond bracelet at the "Salute to Freedom Gala" in New York, which she attended together with Prince Harry.
Last August, the former "Suits" actress also showed off gold butterfly earrings that Diana wore in 1986. Meghan presented the jewelry during her visit to Colombia with Harry.
name change of their lifestyle brandMeghan's tribute to Diana comes shortly after she announced on Instagram that her lifestyle brand "American Riviera Orchard" is being renamed "As Ever." After allegedly having had trademark issues with the first name, she is now embroiled in controversy again.
The Duchess of Sussex is being criticized on social media for using the same name as an existing clothing brand called "As Ever," which is based in New York and New Jersey. The logo of "As Ever" is also causing controversy. It apparently resembles that of the Mallorcan municipality of Porreres.
